Grabbing tickets for one of Shakespeare’s most popular comedies is no laughing matter – The Comedy of Errors at Buckden Towers from Tuesday 23rd June to Saturday 4th July is already breaking records.
Reuben Milne, Chair of Shakespeare at the Towers Charitable Trust explained “Excitingly, it looks like this year’s show is going to break all sorts of records. We had our best-ever opening day of ticket sales when the box office opened on 1st March. After just three weeks, over 1000 tickets have been sold, including nearly two thirds of tickets for the matinee performance on Saturday 28th June.”
The Comedy of Errors is the second production staged by the company in the atmospheric outdoor setting of the Knot Garden at Buckden Towers. It is sponsored by Wintringham, St Neots, which recognises the cultural value that Shakespeare at the Towers brings to the immediate area and wider community and which is so important to residents of the development.
“Our first year at Buckden Towers was a great success” continued Reuben “and the positive feedback we received then has been mirrored in the rush for tickets this year. A visit to Shakespeare at the Towers isn’t just about watching a great Shakespeare play in the open-air; it’s an occasion. With the benefit of experience from last year’s production, we’re looking forward to people arriving early to meet family and friends, or just to soak up the atmosphere and the wonderful surroundings of Buckden Towers.”
There’ll be food and drink stalls, venue information from the Friends of Buckden Towers and the chance to walk round the grounds.
“It’s a real chance for the community to come together and make the most of the beautiful surroundings” added Reuben “but given the record-breaking ticket sales we’ve already seen, we really would recommend that people don’t think about reserving their seats for too long.”

Performances will start at 7.30pm every night from Tuesday 23rd June – Saturday 4th July (except Sunday 28th June) with a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday 27th June. The production includes a captioned performance on Tuesday 30th June to improve accessibility for anyone who has lost, or is losing their hearing, and a Touch Tour of the set and costumes will be held before the performance on Monday 29th June for blind and partially sighted theatre fans. For anyone who’d prefer to buy in person, a pop-up box office will be held at the Buckden Towers Business event on 12th April, their Plant Sale on 16th May and at Buckden Library.
